Achieving Success in Real Estate

Meet Leland Earls, broker

I have been a Real Estate broker in Western Montana for a decade – building a diverse clientele of buyers and sellers with 2 things in common:  A love of Western Montana and a desire to find creative opportunities in the Real Estate Market.

Love of place: the foundation of real estate excellence

I was born and raised in Missoula – at a young age, I developed a passion for exploring.  The moment I got my driver’s license, I was exploring the high mountain lakes in the Bitterroot Mountains – After graduating from the University of Oregon, I spent years exploring vast swaths of wilderness through long-distance hikes, including:

The Pacific Crest Trail (2650 Miles)

The Continental Divide Trail (3000 miles)

The Arizona Trail (800 miles)

The Florida Trail (1100 Miles)

The Pacific Northwest Trail (1500 Miles)

In my early 20’s, I supported my adventures as a commercial fisherman in a remote corner of Kodiak, Alaska.  I credit those long seasons of brutal work for shaping my professional life.  16 hour days of ripping salmon out of nets translated surprisingly well to long days of finding the best value for buyers and sellers at all price points.

I’ve found success in real estate by finding creative solutions for my clients – even in competitive markets, I’m constantly amazed at the opportunities that present themselves with hard work and an approach that looks at each client’s goal with a creative lens.

It starts with a brainstorming call.  We’ll lay out your goals and approach them from new angles – I guarantee you will come away with a new perspective and fresh ideas for your next big real estate move.

I spend my free time exploring Western Montana in every way I can – Each season brings out a different passion.  In fall and winter, you’ll find me hunting, backcountry skiing and mountaineering. In spring and summer; climbing, ultrarunning, packrafting, and occasionally riding through town on my 7-foot-tall unicycle.

Meet Joy Earls – Broker/Owner

I am a Montana Broker who has lived and worked in the Missoula area for almost forty years now. I work with residential and commercial clients. My approach is detailed and business oriented, yet I make the work enjoyable. The real estate market today is time consuming and requires the direction of a seasoned professional. You should carefully interview and screen the Brokerage and Realtor that you hire to assist you in the sale and purchase of Real Estate. This important decision will save you time, money and possibly from making some terrible mistakes.
I have a BS from the University of Michigan and a Masters from the University of Montana. My business experience has spanned from the engineering field to mediation. I’m currently on the board of the Montana Conservation corps, I was the President of the Missoula Community Dispute Resolution Center and the President-Elect of the Montana Mediation Association. I have held top administrative positions including the HR Director for the City of Missoula and the Executive Director of the Montana Association of Home Health Agencies.

I am currently the owner of Earls Construction, Inc. with my husband, Mark Earls.
Many of my clients are long term Missoula residents who are looking at managing their assets. I work closely with my clients, as you will see, if you give me a call. We can set up an appointment and discuss your personal and business needs and see if my services fit your current real estate needs. Take the time to read some of the testimonials that my past clients have written. If you have a bit more time, read some of my Real Estate articles written for the Missoulian. Let’s make you one of the Successful Stories!!! Call me Today…..

Meet Monica Trimble, Real estate agent

Monica Graig Trimble—Licensed Real Estate Assistant

I am delighted to be working with Joy and Leland as the assistant to the Joy Earls Real Estate office.

For over forty years I have been a Medical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  When I retired, I was ready for a fun new challenge.  Shortly after retiring from Community Medical Center, I became a licensed Realtor to work with Joy and Leland.

I love houses and looking for the right match for a buyer or seller.

I use many of the skills developed over years of social work. I am an expert listener. I  know the challenges facing older adults as they decide where to move when the big house is too much. I know Missoula well having completed hundreds of home visits while working in the community for over 30 years. I also know that life can change on a dime and often we must make other plans. I am well acquainted with the resources in Missoula County.

My husband and I are enjoying semi-retirement with travel and grandchildren.

I have three adult children, two in Missoula with their families. Our second daughter, husband and her daughter live and work in New York City.
